Who we are

Roitae ("we", "our", "us") is a barcode scanning app for small stores, operated by the Roitae project. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can manage it.

Data we collect

• Account data — when you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, and a Google account identifier. When you register with email and password, we store your email and a salted password hash (never the password itself).
• Items and catalogs — barcodes, item names, prices, and images you enter or scan while using the app.
• Bills — the items, quantities, prices, and timestamps of the bills you create or confirm.
• Usage data — technical logs needed to operate and secure the service (e.g. request timestamps, error logs). We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

How we use your data

• To provide the scanning, catalog, and billing features of the app.
• To sync your data across your devices.
• To prevent abuse and keep the service secure.
• To resolve support requests you send us.

Sharing and third parties

When you scan a barcode, the app may query third-party product databases (such as Open Food Facts) to resolve the product name. Only the barcode number is sent to those services. We do not share your personal data with them.

Storage and security

Your data is stored on servers we operate, with access restricted to the systems that provide the service. Passwords are stored only as argon2id hashes. Access to the API requires a signed session token. While we take reasonable measures, no service can guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

You may export or delete your account data at any time by contacting us at the address below. Deleting your account removes your catalogs, bills, and profile from the service.
